"The Story"

It started with my love for green and the calm attached to it —the kind that feels like a deep breath after a long day. I was always drawn to the olive tree, to the way its leaves curve and sit so close to the fruit, almost as if they’re quietly holding it in place. That image stayed with me: a small, humble leaf, resting against something full of life.

Creativity has always moved through my life in a similar way—close, steady, quietly present. I grew up watching my mum stitch and crochet, her hands moving with a rhythm, while my dad painted and shaped wood into something whole and beautiful. From those moments, the love for making things slowly found its way into me.

On busy days, art helped me stop and stay in the present moment. I turned to quilling, embroidery, sketching, painting, or making small pieces of jewelry—never really thinking that these pockets of creating would one day become the heart of something bigger. When life led me into the corporate world, art turned into my refuge. Between meetings and flights, a sketchbook or a ball of yarn was always tucked into my bag, a quiet reminder that there was a softer, slower part of me I could return to.

Becoming a mum gave this love a new layer. I found myself juggling motherhood, travel, and my love for craft on the go. I started making what I couldn’t find for my child, drawing to spark imagination, crocheting small comforts, and with each piece I made, a gentle kind of joy unfolded. It felt a lot like that olive tree—creating tiny pockets of peace in the middle of a full life.

What began as handmade keepsake gifts turned into stalls at small fairs, and then into the thought: “Maybe this needs its own home.” One friend’s gentle insistence—“You need an online store”—lingered long enough to turn into action. That is how Olive Leaf was born: from nature, from travel, from everyday moments that breathe life into art, and from a name that honours the peace at the centre of it all.

Today, Olive Leaf continues to grow, leaf by leaf. Each piece is made to feel like that olive leaf resting close to the fruit—a small, thoughtful keepsake that carries a story. This space is an invitation to wander through those stories, to find something that feels familiar, and maybe to carry a little bit of that quiet peace into your own everyday life.
